Cobie Smulders In ‘CAPTAIN AMERICA′ Sequel & Possible Appearance in ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’ TV Show

There’s bits and pieces about who’s coming and going in the Marvel Universe, but we do know that Cobie Smulders will return in ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier‘ to reprise her role as Agent Maria Hill.

As for her next theatrical Marvel appearance, Smulders says she’s not yet seen the screenplay for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but when she does it’ll be under tight security with heavily watermarked scripts. She’s also unsure of when she’s required on set but that the film does begin shooting at the end of March/early April.

Our speculation is that since The Winter Soldier serves as a quasi-S.H.I.E.L.D. film, we’ll see the relationship between Maria Hill and Nick Fury explored more, since much of that was cut from The Avengers. Hill and Fury do not always see eye to eye and in the films, Hill is more on the side of The Council. In the comics, Hill eventually takes over Fury’s role as Director of S.H.I.E.L.D..

What’s also been spreading throughout the entertainment news is that she may pop up, most likely not as a regular, but as an occasional guest star on the S.H.I.E.L.D. television series, since she already has a job on another TV series.

“The commitments to [How I Met Your Mother] don’t affect it. And I can’t really say but there are definite talks about it.”
