Jake Abel as Ian O’Shea and Saoirse Ronan as Melanie Stryder

I was first impressed with Jake Abel when I saw him in Supernatural as Sam and Dean Winchester’s younger half-brother, Adam Milligan.  So, whenever his name pops up, I pay attention, and although he’s pretty much had bit parts here and there, his role in this movie is significantly more important, considering he’s one of the love interests of the main protagonist, Melanie Stryder/Wanderer, played by Saoirse Ronan.

Although Ian is described much differently in the books than Jake actually looks like physically, I’m open-minded to him playing the character.  Besides, Ian’s physical description is not of any integral importance to how the character is played.  And from what I’ve seen in the clips, I’m optimistic of Jake’s performance, and the chemistry between him and Saoirse.
