Update on GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Casting

While ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ director James Gunn and casting crew are still working on finding the perfect Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, here’s some info on the casting rumors of the other characters, thanks to ComicBookMovie:

Rocket Raccoon

They confirm that Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler are up for the role of Rocket Raccoon. They also add that the studio is also looking at voice actors such as Jon Benjamin, who are known for having good comedic timing and quick wit.  Rocket Raccoon is going to have a decent sized role in the film, and they want him to work well on the big screen.

Regarding Drax the Destroyer, we had posted a previous article about three that were up for the part, but they also looked at other actors:

We’ve now learned that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was also up for the role, but that won’t happen because of his Hercules commitment (I had no idea). There were also talks of casting Conan star Jason Momoa, but I guess that didn’t last long. The studio is now considering casting an unknown actor in the role, and here’s the type of person they’re looking for… “Caucasian male, above 6’2”(188cm), Healthy physique.”

gamora

Then there’s the character Gamora, which we’ve heard nothing about so far. CBM says Marvel is taking their time casting the role, and they’ve considered actresses such as Gina Carano, Olivia Wilde, Adrianne Palicki and many more. None of which have officially been approached by Marvel, but that should give you an idea of the type of actresses that they are looking for.

I can maybe see Gina Carano, but unless the other two can physically bulk up, I’m not quite so sure about them.

Yes, they’re taking their time, but I would hope they wouldn’t take too much time.  These actors won’t wait forever for a call, and they might have to go for the next available instead of who they really want.  Still, I’m sure they want to find the best people for the roles, so let’s hope they find them soon.
