One things for sure, The CW doesn’t seem to be afraid to take a risk on sci-fi/fantasy genre shows, and that’s a good thing. Here’s the latest information on what’s going on with The CW and what shows that would like to bring to the tube.
The sci-fi wave continues over at The CW. Next up? The Tomorrow People, an X-Men and Alphas-esque series focusing on teens with special powers, produced by Arrow mastermind Greg Berlanti.
Based on a 1970s British kids’ series of the same name, Tomorrow People will follow a group of young people scattered across the globe who are the “next stage in human evolution.” They’ll have powers such as telepathy and teleportation, and it sounds like this could also have a dash of Jumper thrown in for good measure. If the pilot is picked up, the show would focus on these disparate youth coming together to master their abilities to fight baddies.
The project is the latest in a long line of sci-fi and fantasy projects in the works this fall at The CW, which has scored a breakout hit with Arrow this year. In addition to Tomorrow People, the network is also prepping a post-apocalyptic teen series, a Roswell-style alien drama and a Hunger Games riff about young girls in a dangerous competition. Oh yeah, not to mention that Wonder Woman series that’s stumbling toward a pilot order.
