One of the best books that I’ve read so far this year is Daughter of Smoke and Bone, along with its sequel Days of Blood and Starlight.  Sometimes I can’t fathom how much I enjoyed the main characters and their emotional and physical struggles with their utterly fantastical lives.  And, of course, the relationship between Karou and her father figure, Brimstone, is very heartfelt.
