Wow! Amongst all the news of sequels and tentpole feature films, Fox makes the announcement of one particular YA book by author Ransom Riggs. Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children has a release date for the movie adaptation, which will be directed by none other than Tim Burton. Yes, that Tim Burton.
Fox also announced that Peregrine’s Home for Peculiars will hit theaters that same month, on July 31, 2015. The film, based on the the debut novel by Ransom Riggs, will be directed by Tim Burton from a script by X-Men: First Class writer Jane Goldman. The story follows a teenage boy who is transported to an island where he must help protect a group of orphans with special powers from creatures out to destroy them.
According to the article, the movie looks like it might have a slightly different title, removing the “Miss” and “children” in it, probably to make it sound a bit less female or YA-focused, which makes sense when you’re trying to a general target audience in. Nonetheless, this should be really interesting to see, especially under the uber-creative eyes of Mr. Burton. Let’s see if Helena Bonham Carter will make an appearance in the film, too!
