I’m so glad that Ming-Na Wen gets to show her badassness in the highly anticipated Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. And it seems that she’s definitely looking forward to playing this character, Agent Melinda May. Here’s what she had to say about her character:
“I think she definitely honors her job and she takes it very seriously,” Wen said about her character, “and she has a lot of skills to reach level 7. But from what I gather she has some damage, she’s like a damaged soldier. I think she’s definitely one of the more season/experienced agents in this crew.”
She went on to show her confidence in the show in the hands of co-creators Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, and then explained what to expect from the series:
“I think for the die hard fans who know Joss Whedon’s work as well as the Marvel series and all the movies, I think the will have a certain expectation which we will be able to deliver as far as sense of humor, as far as the comradery of the characters and the action. But I think the one big surprise is because it’s now been translated for television, it’s just the continuous development of these characters on a weekly basis and hopefully they’ll be able to be more invested in these characters and what happens to them.”
I definitely can’t wait for the show and I know there are quite a few who can’t, either.
And as expected, the other co-creator, Joss Whedon, and Marvel’s TV head honcho, Jeph Loeb, will be at Comic-Con on Friday, July 19th, along with some other unmentioned guests (Agent Phil Coulson?), to talk about the show:
Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s head of television), Joss Whedon (Marvel’s The Avengers), and surprise guests reveal top-secret new information about the first live-action television series from the House of Ideas. No Comic-Con attendee can afford to miss this historic panel!Friday July 19, 2013 1:45pm – 3:00pm
