The list of characters in The Fault in Our Stars is not long, 2 main characters and a couple of handfuls of supporting ones, so it’s kind of a big thing when a cast member is announced, even a character such as Patrick, the leader of the cancer support group that main characters Hazel and Augustus meet.

Patrick will be played by Mike Birbiglia, who’s also a director, writer, and comedian, as was confirmed by author John Green.

So excited to announce that one of my all-time favorite comedians/humans, Mike Birbiglia (@birbigs), will play Patrick in the TFiOS movie.

There’s still at least one major spot left to fill, but it can’t be too long now for the announcement of who will play Mr. Van Houten, as filming already started last week.
